Program Components
Target Audience: Registered Nurses with an associate’s degree for the Clinical Preceptor, and bachelor’s (entry-level) or master’s degrees (advanced level) for Nurse Educator and Nurse Leader credential programs.
Credential Programs: Two levels (entry and advanced) for each credential to accommodate varying experience levels in the nurse preceptor, educator, and leader roles.
Partnerships: Collaboration with local nursing associations, employers, and organizations to promote the Fellowship and support recruitment, participation, and advancement into new roles.
Academic Pipelines: Involvement of nursing graduate students, part-time and adjunct faculty, and clinical instructors to advance qualifications and pathways into academic nursing careers.
Pilots and Program Expansion
The Academy piloted the Nurse Educator Fellowship with three credentials in spring 2024: Clinical Preceptor, Nurse Educator (Proficient), and Nurse Educator (Mastery) with participants across local health system . In 2025, it will pilot Nurse Leader credential programs.
Based on initial evaluations of the Clinical Preceptor and Nurse Educator pilot, the Fellowship curriculum has been adapted and scaled to include multiple cohorts per year, with enrollment currently open for the spring 2025 cohort (Feb-May).
